This kitchen went through a big change in style and features. The new cabinets are hickory with a medium finish. The ceilings are 10½ feet high, so the 96" height of the new cabinets is more proportionate than the original 84" cabinet height.
The molding carries across the window and provides a place for lighting over the sink and allows the over cabinet display to continue over the window. The shelf cabinets facing the family room allow more display space and the increased height of the shelf cabinets makes a raised shelf from the kitchen side, finished with the same quartz as the countertops, providing durability, function and beauty.
The tile backsplash has an interesting pattern. Porcelain 6×6 tiles start at the counter, topped with a raised liner. 3×6 tiles finish the backsplash from the liner to the bottom of the upper cabinets.
More recessed lighting was added in the ceiling and bright undercabinet lighting was installed under each wall cabinet. All lighting is controlled by digital fade dimmers.
